UAE's double celebration

دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة, Al-Imārāt al-‘Arabīya al-Muttaḥida
or United Arab Emirates if you prefer, is a country on cloud
nine these days: the mood is quite upbeat because today's
42nd National Day anniversary comes as a double celebration
after the positive verdict on the Expo 2020 host city
won hands down by Dubai last week.

Dubai will proudly host the World Expo under the theme
'Connecting Minds, Creating the Future' and the iconic
structure covering the 438 hectares off Jebel Ali will have
a photovoltaic fabric that is planned to generate at least
50% of the Expo's power on site while the proposed
master plan features an open plaza with three main zones
symbolising Dubai successful bid's subthemes:
opportunity, sustainability and mobility.

The Expo will be ”the first carbon-neutral mega event” giving
to the young nation of UAE a global exposure while changing
perception about the Gulf and the broader Middle East area
so let me celebrate its ever-growing role with a bunch of
archive images I took on December the 2nd when I was
living down there. What a double occasion for rejoicing!
