flamboyantly ethnic

Like a true ray of sunshine into the chilled aura of
winter, New York-based designer Mara Hoffman
showcased her uplifting AW 2013-14 collection
corroborating her fearless approach to colorful
prints deeply inspired by fantasy and mythology.

Mara received her Bachelor's degree in fine arts and
fashion design from New York's Parsons School of
Design pursuing additional studies at Central Saint
Martins in London soon starting to channel her sartorial
skills through playful folk-glam high-end outfits.

Experimenting with cuts, stitchings and hand-dying
techniques proudly wearing her own creations, she
established her eponymous label in 2000 experiencing
a constant growth that led to swimwear, spring, fall
and resort ready-to-wear lines now carried
by top retailers worldwide.

Her prints show a rich background in folk art history and
subtle gypsy-chic echoes through the use of tribal patterns
and motifs gathered from all around the world juxtaposing
shapes with flowing and tight dresses, in a triumph of
vibrant hues (intense coral, orange and fuchsia paired
with blue tones) and suggestive intarsia designs.
A feast for the eyes to see.
