leisurely-paced metropolitan elegance

”The city fits well: so comfortable I want to wear it”
is the statement incipit of London Central Saint
Martin's 2011 BA graduate Khrystyna Fomenko's
collection smartly evoking a ”metropolitan poise”
kindled by her own impression of NYC.

The Big Apple is the city Khrystyna wants to
summon up through her easy chic clothes
and her notion of relaxed elegance, showing
slender silhouettes bearing a soft retro tang
in a balanced color palette of browns, powder
pink and pale blue degradé and black.

Her watercolor designs show shapes and textures
inspired by Art Deco architecture and interiors
where cork-textured, high-waisted skirts reminding
the city skyscrapers are paired with palazzo
pyjamas and golden velvet coats.

Fomenko's graduate collection is completed with
leather bags and wooden platforms suggesting a
young yet sophisticated look smartly conveying
the effortless feeling the young Ukrainian
designer personally experienced from the city.
