from shadow to light

I'm gonna make you swelter with these cozy
woolly suggestions from last week's Pitti
Immagine Filati and its ”Feel the Yarn
training project and contest reserved to
budding knitwear designers.

Florence's neighbor town Prato and the
broader region of Tuscany has always been
at the forefront of the spinning industry with
its preeminent yarns and the wise project
sponsored by the Italian Institute for
Foreign Trade (ICE) and Tuscany Promotion
Agency aims at expanding creativity
and technical know-how.

This year's edition showed fancy creations
from 21 young designers from 7 international
esteemed fashion schools following the
”From Shadow to Light” theme presenting
63 garments made with yarns supplied
by 13 Tuscan mills.

I'm fully aware that goggling at these riveting
winter knits could be quite uncomfortable in
a sultry summer day yet it's a stimulating
creative path exploring in depth colors,
textures and shapes through which
creativity integrates technology
while design conveys culture.

  1. Dearest Elisabetta,

Quite some artful creations you show us here. The combination of knitted and crocheted parts looks very interesting! Daring designs and yes, it did make me feel 'warm'...

    Lots of love,
