cruising for easy elegance

In the exclusive setting of Hôtel du Cap-Eden Roc
in Cap d'Antibes, on the startling French Riviera,
Monsieur Karl Lagerfeld came to present Chanel's
Cruise 2011-12 collection pumping up the Côte d'Azur
long-established charm right a couple of days
before the Cannes Film Festival opening.

The new resort collection hints back at the easygoing yet
glamorous tenor of Mediterranean seaside resort towns
of the last century with classic black & white bathing

suits, creamy silk below-the-knee dresses, lean pencil
skirts, ivory gowns and tight jackets all of them lavishly
accessorized with real diamonds and pearls.

“It's about dressing down these very sumptuous looks,
about easy elegance...” Kaiser Karl told the press,
”this is about the women of Cannes, women who
mix bathing suits with real pearls and diamonds...”
he said right after the show emphasizing the golden
age atmosphere of the beachside event.

Such a striking leisurely show for 'Chanelphiles' which
was preceded by a press kit showing the range of
stand-alone pieces through the amazing b&w pictures
taken by Lagerfeld's gifted assistant Olivier Saillant
showing up the historical French brand's unique
appeal, a collection after the other.
