Esperanza's top accolade

Blending her original multi-lingual vocal style with uncanny
instrumental chops, jazz bassist, vocalist and composer
Esperanza Spalding from Portland, Oregon, won
the Best New Artist trophy at the 2011
Grammy Awards in Los Angeles last week.

I'm extremely happy for her accolade, I had the pleasure to see
her gig in a hot summer night in Fiesole, on the hills surrounding
Florence and I know how much she deserves the prestigious award.
Esperanza took the jazz world by storm since her debut performing,
among many others, with living legends such as McCoy Tyner,
Stanley Clarke, Joe Lovano, Milton Nascimento and Pat Metheny.

Have you noticed the shoes she was wearing on the red carpet?
Hope you may recognize the “Boring Pink” shoes designed
by Liza Fredrika Åslund from Nyköping, Sweden, for Italian
crowdsourcing brand WMATY (What's More Alive
Than You?) of my older post.

The ruffled lime green gown the up and coming jazz star wore
at the ceremony is designed by Turkish born, New York based
designer Selma Karaca which together with WMATY's contest
winner partly recycled liliac pumps made quite a fresh
ensemble on the Staples Center's red carpet.

Congrats Esperanza, could ever be a name more appropriate?!
