energetic days ahead

A mimosa tree blossoming as spring's approaching,
Ferragamo's printed dress,
John Galliano's, Mc Queen's and Versace's summer outfits
for a poweful, dynamic, vibrant palette.

friend's house in Dubai

Some shots from my friend's Ranjith house in Jumeirah
Beach Residence, Dubai Marina, just in front of the famous
manmade palm shaped island.
An extraordinary wooden table from Kerala with
square mexican tiles built in it and items collected
all around the world for a true melting pot style,
as Dubai town itself.

the shape of spring to come

Yesterday, taking a stroll in Milano between via Spiga and San Babila,
I took these snapshots of the kidswear flagship shops of the area:
same as ever, spring's approaching with red, white and blue.
Who is fool enough to dare during slowdown times?
All it needs is a little bit of creativity...

YSL, the elegant terrorist

January 1984, more than a quarter of century ago, Vanity Italia
published a dialogue with Diana Vreeland together with a long
article, both by André Leon Talley, about the French couturier's
retrospective at Metropolitan Museum, NYC.
It happened to be the twelfth exhibition curated by Mrs. Vreeland
and the very first devoted to the works of a living fashion designer.

Antonio Lopez illustrated with his own typical touch a 25 years
excursus of women shapes and dresses catching the unique
style of the French master who was named ”the most elegant
terrorist of fashion”.

Paloma Picasso portrayed with two YSL Couture dresses, f/w 83-84

upbeat colors

Winter will linger on but we all look forward to spring
with its bright colors and energy giving us back an
optimistic and cheerful disposition.
Tomato red is all right for the season's beginning
combined with ice white and a touch of ebony.
Mix all together and enjoy the buoyancy.

This Amitav Ghosh remarkable novel inspires me
another combo: red once more, a poppy red mixed
with delavé blue, floreal printed silk and embroidered cotton.
Carbon copy colors with cotton fabrics and simple stripes,
small flowers or polka dots prints are suited for
children for a fresh and witty look.
Enjoy the season blossoming.

RIP

vintage fabrics design

Came out from an old locker together with bygone memories
here are some fabrics from the turning of the decade 1950-60.
Naif pattern designs on Ferrania style colors
can still be useful these days providing
creative inspiration.
