tailors and builders

Marchesa
An upward trend coming into view from the latest
s/s 11 womenswear collections is the architecture-driven.
This dominant tendency is made of geometric shapes,
standing out volumes, in trim silhouettes and wiggly
attachments that could be worthy of the most celebrated
architects like Zaha Hadid, Tadao Ando and Frank Gehry.

Yssey Miyake        -      Gareth Pugh
David Koma          -        Rick Owens
Manish Arora         -        Mary Katrantzou

New asymmetries with elaborated convolutions and 3-D
structures no more made by draping, tucking or folding only.
Undoubtably a very big thank must go to the pattern and
prototype technicians who are able to interpret the designers
drawings with their own workmanship,
helping them making ideas become a reality.
