surrendered to Sorronda

What a stirring location happened to be Milan's Piazza Duomo
at the end of September where thousands of people gathered
at dusk to stare at next generation's fashion designers catwalks.
Nine up-and-coming talents from all over the world were invited
to show their own creations in 'Milano Loves Fashion' event
promoted by Vogue Italia and Milan Municipality to heighten
emerging designers during local fashion week.

Sat in front row Franca Sozzani, Anna Wintour, Diane Von
Furstenberg and a bunch of fashion journos and bloggers
together with some of the young designers engaged in
previous editions of “Who is On Next?” fashion scouting
contest who nowadays successfully run their own labels
or work as creative director for Milan's fashion houses.

This year all eyes have been for Brisbane educated talent
Gail Sorronda, former finalist of L'Oréal Fashion Designer
Award Melbourne Festival, with her conceptual 'dark-romantic'
look in which unusual cuts are combined with fancy draping
folds and pure lines in a stark black and white palette
(except for some bronze touches).
Her captivating s/s 11 “Murmur” collection, out now in
stores Down Under, shows well structured forms with tulle
tutu tight underskirts, soft ruffles and oversized buckles with
zipper detailing, amazing caps or disc-shaped headbands
with neckpieces worn as belts.

“Murmur is inspired by the noise that distracts us from important
social issues and how we as humans have strayed from our
natural instincts” she wrote on her own blog from London,
the place she's actually living in and where I bet she'll have
brand new career and advancement opportunities.
She should be back to Italy as a top couturiere:
the best of luck Gail!
