lowlands' whiz

Jan Taminiau is one of the most celebrated young fashion
designers in the Netherlands who is on the constant search
for new forms with meticulously constructed creations.

2001 graduated from the Academy of Art in Arnhem,
after various noteworthy traineeships in Paris, he launched
his own label, JANTAMINIAU, realizing both haute couture
and prêt-à-porter women's collections.

The Dutch designer's shimmering ”Duality” RTW AW 2010-11,
which was unveiled last winter during Amsterdam International
Fashion Week, comprises mainly mini dresses in which
shape, structure and a clever combination of fabrics
play a prominent role.

The female body is underlined by strong shoulders and
slender necks, the dresses are ruffled and adorned with
oversized rosettes or embroidered with sequins while
gold and metallics shine proffering a mystical vision of
contemporary woman.

Jan declares on his cool website: ”The basis of my work
is always the same: I am continually translating the
asymmetrical mirror of life. Everything I undertake in daily
life I place in my own context. This is reflected in my work,
the 2D/3D concept and my love of technique and craftmanship.
Expressed differently in each collection, though the core
remains unchanged. The basis is dogmatic, the process organic.”
