”feel the yarn” contest

Today has been Pitti Immagine Filati 67th opening day,
the Florentine yarn and knitwear trends exhibition.

Discovering the new ”Feel the yarn” section has
been a pleasant surprise: promoted by Tuscany Region together
with CPF Consorzio Promozione Filati, it aims to expand
the knowledge of yarns produced by local qualified spinners
at international fashion design schools.

17 students with their tutors previously partecipated
in an advanced training course for industrial knitwear designers
and their final works are now showcased in a dedicated area.

Schools involved in are Bunka Fashion College,
Central Saint Martins, Fachhochschule Trier,
Polimoda International Institute and Royal
College of Arts.

Each student had to realize two outfits with yarns
provided by Tuscan firms which will be judged
by a technical jury and by exhibition's visitors who
are allowed to vote for their own favorites.

The award ceremony will take place next thursday,
when I'll be able to unveil my most-liked.

As always, Tuscany is sending some Haute Design into the world with great new knitwear ideas!

    Wish you all the best!
